Lucy is in the 2025 calendar for the charity that’s closest to my heart- @heropaws .They help retired service animals no matter what they need and for how ever long they need it. Sales of the calendar supports their end goal of creating a retirement retreat for the doggos that just need a little more time to adjust to civvy street, and those who never will. They have served their country without choice and without hesitation, and receive zero funding from the services after they’re retired out! Many people are completely unaware of this. And yes, it’s a travesty imho. So I support them as much as I can. Theres 11 other beautiful retired dogs in the rest of the calendar to coo over too! Hero Paws volunteer photog at large is the hugely talented @zerobarknine who is a veteran himself. Today is Armed Forces Day in the UK. This is just a small post to say thank you to all my followers who are veterans or still serving. My dog is a veteran, and I’m very proud of her. I’m very grateful to you all for the service you’ve given to your country. Over the month of July I’ll be taking part in #walkforwarriors which is a 150km goal, along with Lucydog the RMWD. I’m hoping to raise money to help these veterans in their retirement, with the end goal of a sanctuary where they can take their time adjusting to civilian life. Sadly so many hundreds get put to sleep each year before a place can be found for them. A sanctuary will save lives, it’s only right after they’ve served their country with such loyalty and bravery. They helped Lucy live a full life through her spinal operation so now I am trying to repay some of the kindness and ensure they can help others in need! Another quick dash out in the tin tent last night as I was sewing all day. Lush weather, beautiful sunset and sunrise, skylarks and peace! This July madam and I are going to challenge ourselves to walk 150km in support of Hero Paws, the charity that helps ex service dogs in retirement, the end goal being the creation of a sanctuary where the more hardy warriors who can’t adjust to civvy life can live out their best lives, they aim to make it a place for military service humans to find refuge when they need it too…. Got round to finally making myself a vestibule footprint for my #nallo2gt tent. Just to lighten the load a tad but still get some ground protection. Especially with the still sodden ground in the uk. I also sorted some sweet new labels, and helped kiddo bottle up her cider experiment that she’s working on for her DofE skill element. Another lovely weekend. The dog even got the end of lamb shoulder that wouldn’t fit in the slow cooker 😂 And finished a spoon carved out of beech. A busy but productive weekend!

I had planned on going to #dartmoornationalpark yesterday but then remember the Ten Tors Challenge was on, and with the weather being so hot and sultry didn’t want to walk ten miles in the open. So we loaded up the van and headed to the Wiltshire #ridgeway .I did a spot of spoon carving with some nice fresh beech and my partner in crime hunted mice. I of course had the #hillebergthetentmaker #nallo2gt Doggo helped find a Dartmoor postbox stamp, and wonderful weather made it a glorious evening to watch the sunset and stars without a shred of phone signal to bother us. Sleeping by the sound of a stream is one of life’s great pleasures. The right to camp on dartmoor is still under threat, #thestarsareforeveryone and @right.2roam are campaigning to protect it for the many, please go check out their work.

All you need is a domestic sewing machine (and the ability to YouTube if you’re not familiar with seams!) They include material, webbing, shock cord, toggles/clips in a variety of widths and colours, as well as options for strong thread and magic clips (to use instead of pins). They’re on my website now. First new product of 2024! In addition to my usual lantern bags in bright white and warm white material, I can now offer a red one to preserve night vision. Perfect for #photographers or anyone trying to seduce a badger perhaps. They’re freestanding but can also be hung up by either your torch strap or for lower tent ceilings by the shock cord closure. Have added pics and also a vid to show an accurate colour and glow. I have a 600lm petzl torch in there on its middle setting. This is the only freestanding lantern bag I’ve ever seen, cheap as chips at £13 and 15g. Available on the website!
